Happy New Year

A jewelry store in off-season Cannes is the target, and the plan is bold enough that a man walks out of prison under a New Year amnesty still thinking about it. Simon (Lino Ventura) is the criminal behind it, and Claude Lelouch cuts between black-and-white scenes of the present and a colored flashback of how the job came together. In Cannes, Simon meets Françoise (Françoise Fabian), and what grows between them is slower and quieter than any plan.
