Harry and Walter Go to New York

(1976)Directed by Mark Rydell115 min · PGCrime, Comedy
“All the Digby-Hill-Chestnut gang need is two breaks... out of jail... into a safe.”

Harry Digby (James Caan) and Walter Hill (Elliott Gould) are two vaudeville-grade con men in late nineteenth-century New York, planning a bank job far bigger than anything they have handled. Mark Rydell sets them against Adam Worth (Michael Caine), the most famous bank robber of the day, while Lissa Chestnut (Diane Keaton), a crusading newspaperwoman, takes an interest. It is a period caper about small-time crooks who are sure they belong in the big leagues.
