“Murder of the Innocent”

Zosia (Michalina Łabacz) is a young Polish girl in a Volhynian village in the summer of 1939, in love with a Ukrainian boy named Petro. Her father has other plans and marries her off to Maciej Skiba (Arkadiusz Jakubik), a wealthy widower, and war calls him away soon after the wedding. Wojciech Smarzowski sets it among Poles, Ukrainians and Jews living side by side, with Zosia alone in the village as the tension grows around her.
