Heartbeat

Irénée Fabre (Fernandel) works behind the counter of his uncle Baptiste's grocery in Marseille and is certain he was born to be a screen star. When a film crew passes through, they play along with his vanity and hand him a phony acting contract, and he takes it for real and sets off for Paris. Marcel Pagnol keeps Irénée close to Françoise (Orane Demazis), the one person near him who does not laugh at his dream.
