Heartbeat

“The heart has many rooms, some filled, most empty.”

Lucile (Catherine Deneuve) is a young woman kept in comfort by Charles (Michel Piccoli), a wealthy older man who has given her an easy, well-furnished life. Alain Cavalier, working from Françoise Sagan's novel, follows her as she takes up with Antoine (Roger Van Hool), a man her own age with far less money. Charles still has her affection and Antoine has her desire, and she cannot bring herself to give up either.
