“Meet a modern nuclear family unlike any other.”

Two domestic robots, Val (Andy Kaufman) and Aqua (Bernadette Peters), meet and find themselves drawn together by a feeling they were never built to have. They decide to leave the life they were made for and go off on their own, with Charlie (Randy Quaid) and Max (Kenneth McMillan) in the story around them. Allan Arkush directs it as a small, soft-spoken romance between machines, with Jerry Garcia's guitar effects supplying one robot's voice.
