In 1972, Marie Wolfe (Tuesday Weld) is badly hurt in a car wreck, and her teenage son Johnny (Charlie Schlatter) comes up with a plan that makes no sense on paper. He and his bandmates decide to kidnap Elvis Presley (David Keith) and bring him home to meet her, a lifelong fan. Chris Columbus, writing and directing, keeps the camera close to Elvis's tired eyes and the kids' nerves.
