Heaven Can Wait

“Joe Pendleton... the only guy who ever raised Hell about going to Heaven.”

Joe Pendleton (Warren Beatty) is a quarterback with one thing on his mind, leading his team to the Super Bowl, until an accident sends him to heaven before his time. Mr. Jordan (James Mason) has to find him a replacement body, and the only one available belongs to a murdered millionaire. Beatty and Buck Henry keep it light, and what keeps Joe on earth is Betty Logan (Julie Christie), who has come to protest a company that wronged her village.
