Hedwig and the Angry Inch

(2001)Directed by John Cameron Mitchell95 min · RComedy, Music, Drama
“An anatomically incorrect rock odyssey.”

Hedwig (John Cameron Mitchell) grew up a boy in East Berlin and wants out, a way to the United States and a life she can shape herself. She gets there, and John Cameron Mitchell, who wrote and directed the film from his own stage musical, follows her and her backing band, the Angry Inch, as they trail Tommy's tour. Yitzhak (Miriam Shor) stands among the band, and Hedwig stands under the lights in a wig and glitter, calling herself a beautiful gender of one.
