A Red Chinese anti-American plot is being prepared in secret, and a group of scientists believes it could set off World War III. Their answer is to hire Capt. Adam Jones (Richard Widmark), an ex-Navy officer, to take a submarine on an expedition to Alaska, with Denise Montel (Bella Darvi) and her father, Prof. Montel (Victor Francen), among the party. Samuel Fuller shot it in Technicolor and CinemaScope, packing that wide frame into the cramped sets of a submarine.
