Hell in the Pacific
“Out of violence, compassion. Out of suspicion, trust. Out of hell, hope.”
Neither man can say how the other got there, or how long he has been alone on a small island in the Pacific. An American pilot (Lee Marvin) and Captain Kuroda (Toshirō Mifune) of the Japanese navy are stranded together, with different languages and no one to answer to. John Boorman gives the film to just the two of them, and what grows between them is the question of who will reach out first.
