In a British house that Larry (Andrew Robinson) and his wife Julia (Clare Higgins) have just moved into, a puzzle box has already done its work once. Clive Barker, directing his own novella for the first time, ties the box to Frank, a man who went looking for pleasure and found beings who cannot tell it from pain. The box sits on the floor of the empty room, its brass sides catching the light.
