In 2007 Taipei, Ah Jie (Lee Kang-sheng) has lost everything he owned in the stock market and sits in his apartment with nothing left to do. He starts calling a suicide helpline, where a woman's voice on the other end becomes the one thing he looks forward to. Lee, directing for only the second time, keeps returning to a simple question of what a stranger's attention can give a man with nothing else.
