Henry Fool

(1998)Directed by Hal Hartley137 min · RComedy, Drama
“An honest man is always in trouble...”

Simon Grim (James Urbaniak) is a shy garbageman who barely speaks, living with his sister Fay (Parker Posey) and their mother in a Long Island house. Then Henry Fool (Thomas Jay Ryan), a drifter with a black notebook and a lot of opinions, rents the basement room and starts talking to him. Hal Hartley sets the deadpan talk between the two men against the family's quiet house, and Fay watches from the edge of it.
