Henry V

(1944)Directed by Laurence Olivier137 minHistory, Drama, War

In 1415, in the middle of the Hundred Years' War, the young King Henry (Laurence Olivier) decides to take his army across the Channel and claim France. Laurence Olivier, directing for the first time, adapts Shakespeare's play with Alan Dent and Dallas Bower, with Ralph Truman as Mountjoy, the French herald who carries the enemy's answers back and forth. Henry has a small, tired force and a foreign country to take, and he has staked his crown on it.
