Henry V

(1989)Directed by Kenneth Branagh137 min · PG-13War, Drama, History
“The great adventure of a king who defied the odds to prove himself a man.”

Henry V (Kenneth Branagh) is a young English king, newly crowned, who takes his army across the Channel in 1415 to claim the throne of France. Branagh, directing for the first time, adapts Shakespeare's play with Derek Jacobi as the Chorus and Paul Scofield as the French King. Henry has a small, tired force and a long road through enemy country, and the men following him know what a loss would cost them.
