“A Spike Jonze love story.”

Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) is a lonely writer in the near future who wants someone to talk to at the end of the day. He installs a new operating system built to meet its user's every need, and its voice, Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), starts answering him like a person. Spike Jonze lets the two of them talk in the dark, Theodore's face lit only by the small device in his hand.
