Here Is Your Life

Nobody tells Olof Persson (Eddie Axberg) where his life is supposed to go, and in 1910s rural Sweden a working-class teenager has to find out by taking whatever job turns up next. Jan Troell adapts Eyvind Johnson's semi-autobiographical novel, following Olof through one workplace and one romance after another as they slowly fix who he becomes. Late in the film, the northern Swedish land lies wide around him, and he is still walking.
