Hero

“We're all heroes if you catch us at the right moment. Even Bernie Laplante.”

Bernie Laplante (Dustin Hoffman) is a small-time thief with an ex-wife who hates him, a son he barely sees, and police setting a trap for him. When a jet crashes and he pulls passengers out of the wreck, he leaves with one shoe missing and keeps what he can carry. Stephen Frears follows the story that grows once John Bubber (Andy Garcia) claims the rescue as his own, and Bernie is left holding a single mismatched shoe.
