“Finding the one you love...is finding yourself.”

Nobody at the VA hospital can say why Jack Dunne (Henry Winkler) walks out one day, or what he hopes to find among the men from his old unit. Sally Field plays Carol Bell, a traveler who gives him a ride and stays on for the miles that follow, and Jeremy Kagan sends them along highways in the grain of 1970s film stock. Jack sits beside her in the passenger seat, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
