Hideous Kinky

“A journey to love.”

Julia (Kate Winslet) is 25 and tired of the dreary conventions of English life, so in 1972 she takes her daughters, six-year-old Lucy and eight-year-old Bea, to Morocco. Gillies MacKinnon follows the three of them through the country with Bilal (Saïd Taghmaoui), a street performer they meet there. Under the 1960s songs on the soundtrack sits one plain question: what a child needs from a mother who is still searching for herself.
