Nobody at this senior high school can say why Jay-Jay Manners (Michael J. Fox) has decided to go after Beth Franklin (Nancy McKeon), since she already belongs to a rival from the higher clique. Rod Amateau's 1983 TV comedy, with Todd Bridges as Otto Lipton and Angela Cartwright as Miss D'Angelo, treats the school as a ladder where everyone knows their rung. Between Jay-Jay and Beth there is a pull that neither of them is in a hurry to name.
