High Spirits

“He's an American. She's a ghost. Vacation romances are always a hassle.”

Peter Plunkett (Peter O'Toole) can't keep guests in his crumbling Irish castle, so he advertises it as haunted, tours and all. Neil Jordan sends the first busload of visitors in, among them Jack Crawford (Steve Guttenberg), and the castle turns out to have two real ghosts, Mary (Daryl Hannah) among them, who take a liking to the guests. The film treats the dead as lonely company, still wanting to be loved.
