Pilot Kelson (Jake Gyllenhaal) insists the two of them drive to Seattle, and he won't tell his friend Jack Hayes (Jared Leto) why. Jack has been caught with his Vegas employer's wife, and the thug's goons are close behind, so he goes along. James Cox sends them north in the 1990s, picking up a stoner headed to Kurt Cobain's memorial, while Jack falls for Cassie (Selma Blair), a young woman they give a ride to.
