Hiroshima Mon Amour
“From the measureless depths of a woman's emotions...”
A French actress (Emmanuelle Riva) wants to be believed when she says she has seen Hiroshima, and a Japanese architect (Eiji Okada) keeps telling her she has seen nothing. They talk through the hours they have together, trading stories of old loves and what each of them lived through, while the city's devastation hangs over every exchange. Resnais cuts between their bodies, the streets and the past, so that memory seems to arrive without being called.
