Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) has just finished North by Northwest, and what he wants next is Psycho, a lurid novel no studio will touch. When Paramount refuses, he pays for the picture himself and takes a percentage of the profits. Sacha Gervasi sets the shoot against the marriage of Hitchcock and his wife Alma (Helen Mirren), a partnership whose work often goes uncredited.
