HOKUSAI

Hokusai Katsushika, played across two lifetimes by Yuya Yagira as the young man and Min Tanaka as the old, is an Edo-period ukiyo-e artist said to have made more than 30,000 works. Hajime Hashimoto follows him from his early years to the late ones, the period of "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji." Around him are the publisher Juzaburo Tsutaya (Hiroshi Abe) and the painter Utamaro Kitagawa (Hiroshi Tamaki), whose work he measures his own against.
