“We can't tell you what this picture is about ... without giving away the secret that rocked the lives of five fabulous people!”

Larry O'Brien (Richard Conte) is an independent producer who decides to make a picture about the unsolved murder of a famous silent film director. Once word gets out, Police Lt. Bud Lennox (Richard Egan) takes an interest, and the people who knew the dead man start to look uneasy. William Castle follows Larry from one studio office to the next, a man holding a script that someone clearly wants left alone.
