Sam Gold (Jesse Eisenberg) is a young Hasidic man in Brooklyn, raised to obey the rabbi and expected to marry the woman his family picks. His neighbor Yosef Zimmerman (Justin Bartha) offers him a trip to Europe and a job carrying pills back to New York, in the late nineties, for people who pay well. Kevin Asch directs the story from there, and what grows between Sam and Yosef is a friendship that pulls Sam further from home with every flight.
