Home for the Holidays

“On the fourth Thursday in November, 84 million American families will gather together... And wonder why.”

Claudia Larson (Holly Hunter) has lost her job, kissed her boss on the way out, and learned that her daughter would rather spend Thanksgiving with a boyfriend, so she leaves Chicago for her family's house. Jodie Foster fills that house with her parents Adele (Anne Bancroft) and Henry (Charles Durning), and with her brother Tommy (Robert Downey Jr.). Claudia has one holiday weekend with these people, and nowhere else to go once it's over.
