Marcus Pendleton (Peter Ustinov) is a con artist who talks his way into a job at an insurance company, using the name Caesar Smith. His real interest is the firm's new wonder computer, which he means to reprogram and quietly drain of money. Eric Till surrounds him with Maggie Smith's Patty Terwilliger, Karl Malden's Carlton J. Klemper and Bob Newhart's Willard C. Gnatpole, and each of them could notice that the books no longer add up.
