Hotel America

Hélène (Catherine Deneuve), an anesthesiologist living on pills, is still mourning her boyfriend when she causes a car accident in Biarritz and meets Gilles Tisserand (Patrick Dewaere). Gilles is a drifting young man who lives free at his mother's hotel, and he sets about courting her. André Téchiné lets the two of them circle each other, a woman who has stopped expecting anything and a man who has never started.
