Houdini

(1953)Directed by George Marshall106 minDrama, Romance, History
“His feats of magic were GREAT! The magic of their love was GREATER!”

Harry Houdini (Tony Curtis) wants an audience that can't look away, and he chases it with shackles, ropes, handcuffs and the locked cells of Scotland Yard. George Marshall films the escapes in Technicolor, with Roy Webb's score pushing each one along. Beside him is Bess (Janet Leigh), who joins his act and marries him, and the film keeps coming back to the two of them waiting out each trick together.
