Lewellen (Dakota Fanning) is a girl in 1956 Alabama who wants one thing: to see Elvis Presley sing. Her life at home is hard, and the only place she feels safe is inside his records, moving to them. Deborah Kampmeier follows her through the heat of a Southern summer, alongside her grandmother Grammie (Piper Laurie), the one person who stays close.
