Strange things start happening at Collinwood once a long-buried relative, Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid), turns up in the family's house. He is a vampire, and he wants a cure, because Maggie Evans (Kathryn Leigh Scott) looks exactly like Josette, the fiancée he lost long ago. Dan Curtis, who made the Dark Shadows television series, gives him a doctor's help in Julia Hoffman (Grayson Hall), though Barnabas wants to be a husband far more than he wants to be saved.
