Housekeeping

“The story of a woman slightly distracted by the possibilities of life.”

Ruth (Sara Walker) and her younger sister Lucille (Andrea Burchill) are left in a small Idaho town, and no one can say why their mother is gone. Then Aunt Sylvie (Christine Lahti) arrives, a drifter whose habits of dress, sleep and housekeeping do not match anything the neighbors know. Bill Forsyth sets the girls and their aunt in a house the town is watching, where the question is whether anyone will let the sisters stay.
