How to Be a Good Wife

The school in Bitche, Alsace, trains teenage girls to be perfect housewives, and its headmistress Paulette Van Der Beck (Juliette Binoche) has never doubted a word of the lesson. Then her husband dies suddenly, the books show the place is close to bankruptcy, and 1968 is arriving outside the gates. Martin Provost sets a woman who taught obedience beside her pupils, and what each is owed becomes the plain question in every room.
