Schatze Page (Lauren Bacall) has a plan: rent a Manhattan apartment she can't afford and fill it with two friends, Pola Debevoise (Marilyn Monroe) and Loco Dempsey (Betty Grable). Jean Negulesco sets the three of them to work on one goal, finding a millionaire each and marrying him. They have the rent to cover and no money of their own, and the men they meet keep turning out to be someone else.
