Howards End

“Based on the Novel by E.M. Forster”

Why should a country house in the Edwardian countryside matter to the Schlegel sisters, Margaret (Emma Thompson) and Helen (Helena Bonham Carter)? Their lives become tied to two other households. One belongs to the wealthy industrialist Henry Wilcox (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife Ruth (Vanessa Redgrave). The other is Leonard Bast (Samuel West), a clerk, and his mistress Jackie. James Ivory follows the two sisters as each of them is pulled in a different direction.
