Hula Girls

“They danced their way into the hearts of a nation.”

A coal-mining town in Iwaki is running out of coal, and its answer is a Hawaiian resort, built where the mines are closing. Madoka Hirayama (Yasuko Matsuyuki), a hula teacher from Tokyo, is brought in to train local girls, including Kimiko Tanikawa (Yu Aoi), who have never danced before. Sang-il Lee follows Kimiko as she learns to move her hips, and the town's doubt comes down on her.
