Human Desire

(1954)Directed by Fritz Lang91 minCrime, Drama, Romance
“A rarity on the screen … a RAW slice of life!”

Jeff Warren (Glenn Ford) comes home from the Korean War to his old job as a railroad engineer, and a killing aboard a train pulls him into the life of Vicki Buckley (Gloria Grahame). Her husband Carl (Broderick Crawford) works for the same railroad, and Fritz Lang lets the affair take shape around him. Loosely drawn from Zola's novel, the story treats desire as a pull ordinary people can't resist, even with a wrecked marriage in plain view.
