A schoolgirl is found raped and murdered in a small town in northern France, and the case lands on Pharaon De Winter (Emmanuel Schotté), a withdrawn police lieutenant who barely speaks. Bruno Dumont follows his slow enquiries alongside the ordinary routines of his life, including his neighbours Domino (Séverine Caneele) and Joseph (Philippe Tullier). Pharaon asks few questions and says less, and he carries the crime with him through every quiet hour.
