Nate Kroll (Jemaine Clement), a playwright with a bad case of writer's block and a family crisis he can't fix, packs up and moves into his father's retirement community. Sam Hoffman puts him among the card games and shuffleboard of the other residents, with Bob (Elliott Gould) as his neighbor down the hall. Bob is a widower with opinions about everything, and he and his son have a lot of years to talk through.
