In 1981, inside the Maze Prison in Northern Ireland, Republican prisoners are fighting for political status. Steve McQueen watches the routines of the place, the guards among them, including Ray Lohan (Stuart Graham), and the prisoners, Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) among them. When Sands decides to lead a hunger strike, one conversation with a priest (Liam Cunningham) tests how far two men can disagree and still keep talking.
