I Am Cuba

“For you, I am the casino, the bar, the hotels. But the hands of these children and old people, are also me.”

Pedro (José Gallardo), a tenant farmer, wants only to keep the land he works, while Alberto (Sergio Corrieri), a university student, wants Cuba's politics to change, and a street vendor wants the woman he loves back from the American-owned casino. Mikhail Kalatozov tells four separate stories set in and around Havana in the years before the 1959 revolution. In each, ordinary people stand at the edge of an upheaval that will take everything they have.
