I Am Sam

“Love is all you need.”

Sam Dawson (Sean Penn) has a developmental disability and a daughter, Lucy (Dakota Fanning), whom he has raised alone since her mother left them at the hospital. When the authorities decide he can't parent her as she grows older, Sam talks a high-priced lawyer, Rita Harrison Williams (Michelle Pfeiffer), into taking his case for free. Jessie Nelson keeps the camera close on Sam, a man who has only ever done one thing well and will not give it up.
