I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians

Mariana (Ioana Iacob) is a young theater director staging a public reenactment of the 1941 Odessa massacre in a Bucharest square. The title comes from a line spoken in the Council of Ministers that summer by Mihai Antonescu, which she has chosen to confront. Radu Jude sets her against officials, actors and an audience who would sooner not see it staged, and he lets the arguments run long.
