I Dreamed of Africa

“Sometimes the adventure of a lifetime becomes life itself.”

Kuki Gallmann (Kim Basinger) leaves her comfortable, monotonous life in Italy and takes her young son Emanuele (Liam Aiken) to the African wilderness, where her new husband Paolo (Vincent Perez) is waiting. The land is hard and dangerous, and nothing about it resembles the home she gave up. Hugh Hudson fills the screen with sun-bleached plains and thick green growth, and lets the beauty carry a faint ache.
