Adriana Astarelli (Stefania Sandrelli) leaves the Italian countryside for Rome, sure that she is going to be a star. Antonio Pietrangeli follows her through the city's film and nightlife circles, where the men around her, among them Emilio Ricci (Mario Adorf) and Dario Marchionni (Jean-Claude Brialy), always want her attention and her company.
