I Live in Fear

Kiichi Nakajima (Toshirō Mifune), the owner of a foundry, becomes so afraid of a nuclear attack that he decides to move his whole extended family to a farm in Brazil. His relatives, who stand to lose their livelihoods, take him to family court to have him declared incompetent. Kurosawa gives the hearings to Dr. Harada (Takashi Shimura), a counselor who watches the old man's dread and begins to doubt his own calm.
